Professor C. Raj Kumar

Professor C. Raj Kumar was appointed the Founding Vice Chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University in India at the age of 34 in 2009. He also serves as the Founding Dean of Jindal Global Law School and Director of the International Institute for Higher Education Research & Capacity Building. He possesses academic qualifications from the University of Oxford, Harvard University, University of Hong Kong, University of Delhi and Loyola College and taught at the School of Law of City University of Hong Kong. He was a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford where he obtained his Bachelor of Civil Law degree; a Landon Gammon Fellow at the Harvard Law School, USA from where he obtained his Master of Laws degree and a James Souverine Gallo Memorial Scholar at the Harvard University. He attained Doctor of Legal Science (S.J.D.) at the University of Hong Kong, Bachelor of Laws  from the University of Delhi, and a Bachelor of Commerce from the Loyola College, the University of Madras, India.

Professor Kumar has over hundred and fifty publications including books and peer-reviewed journal articles in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan and USA on Indian education, governance, corruption, terrorism, human rights and disaster management. He also contributes articles in newspapers and magazines and appears in TV and radio interviews in Hong Kong, Japan and India.

Professor Kumar has held consultancy assignments at the United Nations University, United Nations Development Programme, UN Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights,; and the International Council for Human Rights Policy and advised several heads of government on corruption eradication strategies.
